Over my time at American University, I have been lucky enough to have directed two full-length productions. The first show I directed was Love’s Labour’s Lost, an often-forgotten Shakespeare comedy. By directing this show, I helped build a community for our actors and our tech team. Guiding a project full of laughter and mischief was wonderful.

This fall, I recently directed a production of Almost, Maine. This show means a lot to me because it has love at its center. Creating a team of people who also saw the joy, empathy, and kindness in this play was so wonderful, and despite many technical difficulties due to the show being outside, we had a very successful run!

I’m hoping to keep learning more about directing once I leave AU!
